Campsite review: Our city trip to Paris begins at the Sandaya Paris Maisons-Lafitte campsite.
At the end of April 2024, we embarked on a new journey in our campervan through France. Our first stop was the 'Camping Sandaya Paris Maisons-Laffitte' campsite, an ideal base for exploring Paris. The site offers spacious, natural pitches, convenient access to Paris, and plenty of entertainment options. Perfect for a city break in Paris!
It's the end of April 2024 and we're embarking on a new journey with our campervan. This time we're spending two weeks in the home of Asterix, croissants, wine and breathtaking scenery – we're traveling through France.
Our first stop is the campsite “Camping Sandaya Paris Maisons-Laffitte”. From here we plan our excursions to the City of Love – more on that later.
The campsite is about 40 minutes by train from Paris (including the walk to the station), an ideal place to explore Paris.
We arrived at the campsite on Saturday afternoon and were warmly greeted by security and a staff member. Just like in a hotel, we were even given wristbands. We were assigned a corner pitch and drove around the perimeter to reach it. The paths are paved and the pitches are grassy. The pitches are a good size, but a bit slippery in bad weather – but that's a minor complaint!
On our first stroll around the campsite, we discover a small kiosk, a bar/restaurant, a pool, children's playgrounds, and much more that makes the hearts of camping families beat faster. Of course, we also take a look at the sanitary facilities, which are really clean – however, there are no electrical outlets in the shower cubicles…
Security is ensured by the large gate, which closes after 10 p.m. and can only be entered with a code that was given to us at the beginning. This allows us to enjoy a few beers in the small Parisian suburb in the evenings or return from Paris late at night – the trains run very frequently and we don't have to change trains too often.
For approximately €80 and three nights' accommodation, we receive:
- Spacious, “natural” (lawn) areas
- Electricity, waste disposal
- Sanitary facilities
- Fresh water
- Wastewater
- Chemical toilet disposal
Advantages:
- Closed area after 10:00 PM
- Good connections to Paris, a good choice for a city break
- Seating in the bar/restaurant right on the Seine with a wonderful view of the river.
- Many entertainment options (sports, games, pool…)
Disadvantages:
- No electrical outlets in the restrooms
Conclusion:
This campsite is ideal for a city break to Paris with a motorhome. We definitely wouldn't want to use a motorhome in the City of Love – be it because of the stressful traffic or the many traffic jams!
