Adventure and tranquility: A hike that offers more than just a suspension bridge

Join us for an accessible hike that leads us from the enchanted forest at Hintersee, along paved roads, and past quaint houses. Discover the region's history before we continue on well-maintained paths through towering trees and valleys. Be captivated by the majestic mountain scenery and enjoy the tranquility of a secluded mountain hut.

First of all: This hike is barrier-free. We did this hike on the same day we visited the Enchanted Forest at Hintersee. The hike starts directly at the Enchanted Forest parking lot at Hintersee, where we were able to conveniently park our camper for the hefty price of €10, but at least for the whole day.

The route itself leads us along paved roads for a long stretch, which is initially a bit monotonous. We could probably also reach our destination by bus – however, we opted for the more active option. An interesting aspect of the first, very easy part of the trail is the many quaint houses lining the road, which even in February convey a certain holiday atmosphere.

This road even evokes a bit of a “national park” feeling, because before heading into nature you can go into one of the houses to learn something about the history of the region and its inhabitants.

After about 30 minutes, the more interesting part of the hike begins – still very easy. We move along a well-maintained trail through giant trees, through valleys, and always with the magnificent mountain scenery to our right and left.

We pass a picnic area that also offers further information about the reintroduction of vultures to the Alps and invites visitors to linger.

One of our highlights, however, was the solitary cabin in the middle of a clearing along the trail. Of course, we had to stop and take photos and videos – after all, you don't see something like that every day.

We'll soon be heading back towards our actual destination – and shortly before we reach it, the otherwise very flat path becomes a bit steeper. Of course, it's not so steep that it's no longer very easy to manage, but you can definitely feel the incline.

When we arrive at the rushing river with its impressive suspension bridge, things get really adventurous… Or maybe not, because in February the river was almost completely dry – which isn't a problem at all, as the path is truly beautiful – in a relaxed way. The suspension bridge is certainly a highlight here, but the surrounding nature is even more captivating. I was personally completely taken with the mountains.

We also walked across the suspension bridge, of course (several times, in fact), and we have to say: the hike was worthwhile – not because of any single highlight, but simply because the trail is beautiful. On the way back, we had to stop very often because I had to photograph the mountain peaks from every angle…

We definitely recommend this route!
