A first impression with pizza oven and playground
Anticipation is the greatest joy – and looking at the website of the Wildwood Camping Lüneburger Heide campsite really does feel like stepping into an Instagram-worthy, cozy, and fancy dream. That's exactly what we want to find out: Is this campsite really worth it?
Our little camping adventure isn't just about relaxation. Stella is currently on maternity leave, and I want to take the opportunity to learn more about "working remotely" from a campervan. The Wildwood campsite here in the Lüneburg Heath is our first choice for this – and we're excited to see what awaits us.
Arrival with surprise and playground idyll
When we arrive, there's a handwritten note on the reception desk: "Back at 6:30 pm." That gives us about ten minutes to explore the area. We walk across the covered terrace into the garden area – and immediately discover the pizza oven, which is free for our use. A real treat for all pizza lovers!
Next to the oven, we find everything we need: wood, firelighters, flour – and according to a sign, there's even a pizza kit in the shop. Unfortunately, we don't find one during our visits; perhaps we simply didn't look thoroughly enough.
Right next to it is a wonderfully natural playground with slacklines, swings and climbing equipment – all lovingly integrated into the landscape. We would definitely love to let our child play here later on.

Reception, shop and our parking space
Check-in went smoothly. We got our pitch and took a look in the small, well-stocked camping shop right next to reception. They had snacks, games, firewood, and some handy camping gadgets.
Our medium-sized pitch is right next to the biotope – which later turns out to be a slight mistake. The pitch initially seems a bit small until our neighbors approach us: they'll be staying on the same plot until tomorrow morning. Since almost all the pitches are empty, this doesn't bother us. The neighbors move later – probably mainly because of the mosquitoes. And to be honest, we understand. I'm being practically devoured by tiny mosquitoes, and we eventually escape into the camper.
Attention to detail throughout the entire square
Of course, we take a walk around the campsite – and everywhere we discover attention to detail. The sanitary facilities are clean, well-lit, and tastefully designed. The shower spray is pleasant, has good pressure, and the temperature can be freely adjusted.
Even the dishwashing stations outside the sanitary blocks look like they belong in a professional kitchen – with hot water and a spray function. Washing up is actually a bit fun here.
BBQ bars, biotope and Wi-Fi
We discover a real surprise right in front of the biotope: so-called grill bars. These funnel-shaped stations consist of a hole in the middle for the fire; the wood is slid under a solid grill plate – and then you're ready to go. The wood is also available in the shop when you register.
As far as working remotely goes: It works perfectly here. The campsite is equipped with several access points, so we have good Wi-Fi even from the camper – at no extra charge. I spend a whole day in meetings and working online. In short: The internet isn't ultra-fast, but it's perfectly adequate. No dropouts, good sound quality – so: approved by Flo .

Conclusion
The campsite offers genuine comfort without feeling pretentious. The price-performance ratio is excellent: while the price is slightly above average, the facilities, atmosphere, and thoughtful design absolutely justify it.
If you're looking for a campsite close to nature with good Wi-Fi, charming details and a good dose of atmosphere, this is the place for you.
Oh yes, there was one more thing: The campsite rules definitely state that drones are not allowed. This is perfectly understandable, as the buzzing noise annoys the other campers, and data privacy is usually lacking. However, I was lucky enough to be allowed to fly my drone at the edge of the campsite (after asking beforehand, of course, and the meadow was empty) and was able to take some great aerial shots – so thanks again for that!
Thanks for the report, we watched it recently too. Highly recommended.
Hi Hendrik!
You're very welcome – I saw you were traveling with a tent! Did you also use the barbecue area?
