Natur-Camp Tannenfels campsite is the perfect starting point for exploring the Black Forest west of Baiersbronn. The Ruhestein National Park Centre is only about a ten-minute drive away, the Lothar Trail can be reached in 15 to 20 minutes, and the Holzweg is also just ten minutes away – ideal for families and relaxed hikes through nature.

Arrive and take a deep breath.

Around 3 p.m., we arrived at the campsite, relaxed, checked in, and were happy to have finally reached our first overnight stop in the Black Forest. Right at the entrance, we spotted two vending machines – stocked with barbecue meat, chilled drinks, and snacks. Perfect for spontaneous purchases like a delicious after-work beer.

Parking space with potential

Our pitch is number 35. We quickly notice that while there's plenty of space, there are hardly any natural boundaries like hedges or trees. That's a bit of a drawback, as a little more greenery would improve the atmosphere. Nevertheless, we settle in, set up camp, and look forward to a barbecue in dry weather. Until then, we treat ourselves to a short nap and then explore the surroundings.

Not entirely focused on children – but charming nonetheless.

The campsite basically offers everything you need. However, those traveling with children should be aware that the focus here is more on proximity to the Black Forest's attractions than on being child-friendly. There's a somewhat dated climbing frame with a slide and a large sandbox – but that's probably enough for little ones. The main thing is that they can play!

Comfortable standing – with minor compromises

We particularly liked the gravel pitches . Had we known how high-quality they were, we probably would have chosen one. However, they are closer to the main road, which is quite audible on the campsite – something to keep in mind if you are sensitive to noise.

Sanitary facilities and Wi-Fi – clear advantages

sanitary facilities are a real highlight : modern, clean, and with spacious shower cubicles. A particularly nice feature is the ability to individually adjust the water temperature – and it can get really hot if you want. The Wi-Fi reaches our pitch, which we really appreciate. While the connection isn't quite stable enough for intensive mobile work, let's be honest. This is about relaxation – not the office.

Conclusion

If you're looking for a quiet, well-equipped campsite from which you can immerse yourself in the Black Forest's natural beauty in just a few minutes, then Natur-Camp Tannenfels definitely a great choice. No unnecessary frills, just an honest campsite with everything you really need – including hot showers and a vending machine for barbecue meat. It's not a luxury campsite, but that's precisely what makes it so charming. If you – like us – simply want to get away, into the mountains, into the fresh air, and relax by your van in the evening, then this is the perfect place for you.
