holiday farm on Lake Hennesee around 6:00 PM on Friday . This time there were four of us – in a campervan and a station wagon. Three of us slept in the campervan, one in the car. Our goal: a relaxing weekend right on the farm, far away from everyday life.

The farmer greets us warmly and lets us choose where we want to stand. We choose the spot right by the pasture, next to the cowshed – wonderfully rustic. A beer garden set is already waiting for us there, which is super convenient: our own table can stay in storage.

Adorable calves & milk straight from the cow

We'd barely looked around when we spotted a few curious calves letting us pet them – at least until they decided they'd rather explore our jacket sleeves with their rough tongues. A real highlight: we got to taste fresh milk straight from the farm's own cows – it doesn't get much more regional or fresher than that.

The sanitary facilities are actually intended for larger groups, but we are allowed to use them without any problems. The farmer patiently shows us everything and even asks if we need electricity – we don't, but the thoughtfulness is impressive.

Go-karts, animals & fire pit – for adventurers big and small

While we explore the farm, small children (and adults who are young at heart) whiz around on go-karts. The atmosphere is lively, cheerful, and absolutely infectious. Besides cows, there are also chickens, goats, horses, and Indian Runner ducks – the latter being my personal highlight. A little animal paradise that will leave not only children wide-eyed with wonder.

In the evening we try to make a small fire in the fire barrel – it only works moderately well, but nobody needs to know that.

Bread delivery with style

The next morning, fresh bread rolls – if pre-ordered – are delivered directly to your campervan. And they arrive in a tiny mini-bin. Charming, a little quirky, but above all: incredibly practical. This thoughtful service is sure to bring a smile to your face at the breakfast table.

Lake Hennesee: Hiking, Relaxing, Marvelling

The farm's location is also fantastic: Lake Hennesee is within walking distance and perfect for a short hike. Of course, we take advantage of the opportunity – exercise, fresh air, and a sweeping view of the water included.

As a bonus, we get to watch two hot air balloons land in a neighboring meadow. A beautiful moment. Only the cows don't seem entirely convinced and regard the spectacle with skeptical eyes.

Conclusion: Slowing down on the farm

The holiday farm at Hennesee is a real insider tip for anyone who nature, animals, and authentic camping experiences . Ideal for families, couples, or small groups – with or without children. If you're looking for a short break, you'll find exactly what you need here: a blend of rural charm, a relaxed atmosphere, and little adventures.
