After a good dose of culture and culinary delights, we continue on our way. The temperatures are high, so we treat ourselves to an authentic Greek frappé at one or two corners – and perhaps fall into a small price trap. Did you know that drinks and snacks are significantly more expensive when consumed directly in a café?

We treated ourselves to just a few drinks and an ice cream for our little one at a café – and ended up having to pay quite a bit extra. Right next to the seating area, there were public benches and walls that would have done the job just as well. To be fair, the prices were listed on the menu – so it was partly our fault too.

The Olympieion – A glimpse into antiquity

After this experience, we continue to a true highlight: the Olympieion, the Temple of Zeus. Here, the sheer architectural prowess of the ancient people becomes strikingly apparent. The few remaining columns rise imposingly towards the sky – almost all of them, that is, because one has fallen and now lies on the ground. The massive stone blocks used for these gigantic structures are truly impressive.

Uber fail and a relaxing evening

After our tour, we decided to take an Uber back to the vacation rental. However, we were apparently standing in an inconvenient spot – our driver couldn't find us. This meant stress, a bad Uber review, a small penalty fee, and most importantly: no ride home. It only worked on the second attempt!

In the evening, we stock up on Greek delicacies in the holiday apartment – bread, sausage, fries and much more. While we eat, we enjoy our stunning view of the mountains and the sunset.

Tomorrow, the next adventure awaits!

The next day our next adventure begins: an island cruise through the Greek archipelago. A heads-up: breakfast on the cruise was so-so – but the rest was definitely worth it! So stay tuned!
