Nature, tranquility and adventure: Our short trip to Lake Steinhude
We spent a weekend at the idyllic campsite on the north shore of Lake Steinhude – with free choice of pitches, a friendly welcome, and proximity to the lake. Surrounded by tall pine trees and a peaceful atmosphere, we were able to truly unwind. Perfect for families, especially in the off-season!

We arrived at the campsite on Lake Steinhude at 6:22 pm, almost as soon as the barrier closed. Our campsite for the coming weekend is called Nordufer Camping. The welcome was very friendly, and we were allowed to choose our own spot at the campsite, which wasn't too crowded at that time of year.
We chose a spot among huge pine trees, not far from the sanitary facilities, the children's playground, and the ping-pong table. The four of us set up camp here. After getting everything ready, we briefly explored the campsite. It was really quiet. The campsite has several sanitary blocks, a small kiosk (with a good selection of bread rolls), and a small restaurant. There are even several playgrounds for the children.
Depending on where you park, you might need a slightly longer power cable to properly connect the camper. Luckily, this isn't a problem for us, as we have a 25-meter cable with us. If that hadn't been enough, we probably would have had to move.
Overall, this campsite seems very idyllic – at least when it's not too busy. We can't say what it's like in peak season. The permanent campers are located in a different area of the campsite. The campsite itself has an entrance with a barrier and a path leading out the back. Upon arrival, we received a key for both this gate and the sanitary facilities. Deposit: ID card – just like in France.
The campsite isn't directly on Lake Steinhude, but it's easily reachable in 15 minutes. Besides, you can have a lot of fun at the table tennis table if you have the right equipment!

Conclusion
Our weekend at the north shore campsite on Lake Steinhude was a relaxing and enjoyable experience. The friendly welcome and the freedom to choose our own pitch allowed us to find an idyllic spot among tall pine trees, conveniently located near the sanitary facilities, the children's playground, and the ping-pong table. The peaceful atmosphere and the campsite's excellent facilities, including several sanitary blocks, a small kiosk, and a restaurant, contributed to a truly relaxing stay.
The proximity to Lake Steinhude, which is just a 15-minute walk away, is a particular highlight. The ample play areas for children and the shady trees are also definite pluses. A minor drawback was the somewhat dated sanitary facilities, but this did not detract from the overall positive impression.
For a price of approximately €95 for two nights, including electricity, sewage disposal, fresh water, and waste disposal, the campsite offers good value for money. We are already looking forward to our next visit and can highly recommend the site, especially during the off-season.
