Local pride in Winterberg – Schnitzel and Pinsa “On Point”
In Winterberg, we enjoyed delicious food and excellent service at the Heimatliebe restaurant. The menu is traditional and offers a good selection of schnitzel, pinsa, and other dishes. The food was fresh and flavorful, and the portions were generous. The service was friendly and attentive.
In Winterberg, a 15-minute walk from the "Campingpark Hochsauerland" campsite in the town center, lies the restaurant "Heimatliebe" with a very down-to-earth menu. We were there on a Saturday evening and enjoyed a delicious meal and a few alcoholic drinks.
We couldn't make a reservation, but since the weather probably prompted some people to stay home, we were lucky and got a table for two right away. The service was good; our drink order was taken after about five minutes and brought to our table very quickly.
During this time, we had ample opportunity to familiarize ourselves with the menu – which is quite limited. It should be noted that a limited menu is generally a very positive thing – as was the case here. A page dedicated to schnitzel, a few pinsa variations, and other delicacies could be found.
We opted for a classic schnitzel and a pinsa, and it was definitely a great choice. Both dishes were absolutely delicious and very fresh. The side dishes were also incredibly fresh and complemented the meals perfectly. The portion of fries that came with the schnitzel would easily have been enough for two, if not three, people.
There is one small drawback, however: a portion of ketchup and mayonnaise are listed on the menu at €0.80, which would be reasonable if the portion didn't consist of only 20 ml of sauce each. This could perhaps be improved in the future.
The schnitzel was super tender and very well fried, which really made me want more, just like the pinsa, which tasted super fresh and high quality.
During the meal, we were asked again if we wanted more drinks, which was very courteous.
For dessert we shared the Kaiserschmarrn, which actually led to us “rolling home”.
All in all, a visit here is highly recommended. The price is absolutely reasonable, although I would say it's on the higher end. We spent around €80 on our dinner.
