Guided buggy tour on Lanzarote

Bandana – Check! Cool ski goggles – Check! Windbreaker – Check! What's still missing… Oh yeah, an off-road buggy! Check!

We're currently on Lanzarote and booked a guided buggy tour through GetYourGuide as a special treat, coinciding with our one-year wedding anniversary on April 30th!
We're being shuttled from Puerto del Carmen to Costa Teguise, where we wait a few minutes before receiving our buggy briefing. Then it's off to the first off-road section. The buggies don't have windows, so we're incredibly grateful for our bandanas and ski goggles; otherwise, the ride would be quite a challenge.

Off-road, we drive directly towards a small mountain, and we (I was driving at first) only manage to reach it on the third attempt – until then, of course, we've already made the tires spin properly on the slope and kicked up a lot of dust – a great adventure!

After finally managing to climb the slope, we headed cross-country towards the highest point on Lanzarote – the buggies here can reach speeds of up to 60 km/h on normal roads, which creates a real gust of wind in the open buggy. Once at the top, we took a short break – letting the adrenaline subside a bit – and enjoyed the stunning view of Playa Famara, Lanzarote's surfing beach. We could see the waves crashing onto the shore hundreds of meters away, entertaining the surfers.

On the way back, we swap drivers, because this is fun that simply has to be shared. The descent takes us through vineyards and includes a few sections where it's best not to look out of the buggy on the left, because there's – nothing – there. A few more challenges await us on the return journey to Costa Teguise, and just as quickly as it began, it's over – an excursion that could easily have lasted all day… A definite must-do if you're on Lanzarote!
