At Cape St. Vincent in Portugal, you can, of course, find the last bratwurst before America – after that, travelers can only eat another sausage once they've arrived in the USA. But all joking aside, Cabo de São Vicente should be a must-see on any trip to Portugal. Cliffs, hiking, real summer vibes, and a few secluded beaches – you'll find it all here.

We drive for about 50 minutes to this spot, just barely manage to find a parking space, and take in the atmosphere for a while. We plan to hike here, and our starting point is the lighthouse at Cabo de São Vicente in Portugal. From here, we head straight for the cliffs, where we're treated to a truly impressive view of the sea as it crashes against the shore with relentless force.

If you walk north along the coast, and at the right time of year, you'll be lucky enough to stumble upon a wonderful little beach here at low tide. The descent to the beach is a bit strenuous, but definitely worth it. We were a group of four and had the place completely to ourselves.

Our hike continues to Praio de Telheiro, a beach where there are also a few camper vans, brought here by brave surfers to conquer some of the impressive waves.

From here we head inland, towards the main road. After two hours of walking and 9 kilometers, we're back at our starting point. Here we finally eat Pastel de Nata for the first time and instantly fall in love with this Portuguese delicacy.
