We'll arrive at the parking lot/turning circle at the Sensweiler Mühle campsite at approximately 10:00 AM. We're near the Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park and plan to spend a long weekend here, conducting a mobile working experiment. We intend to hike on October 3rd, and on October 4th (Friday), some of us (spoiler alert: it's not me) have to work.

So what's important to us for this experiment? A campsite that ideally has good Wi-Fi, which, in our experience, isn't always the case. However, the reviews of this particular campsite repeatedly mention that the Wi-Fi is supposed to be quite good. In addition, we have new mobile phone contracts with plenty of data – so we're all set.

We parked our camper in the parking lot and made our way to reception. There we promptly received praise for having heeded the instructions not to park directly in front of the barrier – we can read, after all.

The welcome is incredibly friendly and relaxed, and you get the feeling that everything at this campsite is truly thoughtfully and lovingly designed. You pay according to consumption; water and sewage disposal are included. We also receive three garbage bags – one for our organic waste, one for plastics and packaging, and one for general waste. We return these at the end of our stay, and if we've used them, we pay €1.50. If not, the charge is removed from our bill. A great incentive for recycling!

The barrier can be opened by phone – your phone number is saved in the barrier's phone book, allowing for easy entry and exit. However, the barrier takes a break between 7:00 AM and 10:00 PM and between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM and cannot be reached (i.e., the barrier remains closed).

We drive to our campsite, have breakfast, and then set off on a hike in the Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park. We'll connect to electricity later and fill up our water tank.

Very importantly, and we're discovering this just as I'm writing this post: the Wi-Fi is so good that it's absolutely possible to work here on the campsite (even with video calls). This campsite is therefore a real insider tip if you want to try it out!

The sanitary facilities are clean; showers cost €0.50 for three minutes (unless you take an ice-cold shower, in which case it's free). There's a washing machine and dryer, as well as a heated dishwashing room. Chemical toilets can also be emptied here.

Conclusion

Our stay at Sensweiler Mühle campsite showed us that it's entirely possible to combine work and leisure in a relaxed environment. The proximity to the Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park offers ideal conditions for hiking and experiencing nature, while the reliable Wi-Fi and friendly atmosphere of the campsite facilitate working remotely. The well-designed amenities and environmentally friendly waste separation further contribute to a pleasant stay. For anyone wanting to escape the stresses of everyday life while remaining productive, this campsite is a real insider tip.
